Camair 480 Twin Navion

The 480 Twin Navion is a 4-place, twin-engine, low-wing cantilever monoplane produced by Camair of the United States. The aircraft is a twin-engine iteration of the single-engine Ryan Navion. The aircraft took its maiden flight in 1953 and it was introduced in 1955. A total of 33 of the airframes were manufactured. The Ryan Navion was a civil aircraft that was well known for its ease of handling and reliability.

Some considered it to be underpowered, urging Camair to retrofit the design as a twin-engine aircraft. The variant proved excellent, maintaining many of the flight characteristics of the Ryan Navion, but with dramatically improved performance. The Twin Navion measures 28 feet in length, stands 10 feet, 8 inches in height, and has a wingspan of 34 feet, 8 inches. It features retractable tricycle landing gear, a traditional empennage, and a high-visibility canopy.

The aircraft has a range of 900 miles, a service ceiling of 21,000 feet above sea level, and climbs at 1,750 feet per minute. It cruises at 192 miles per hour and stalls at 62 mph.
