Palm Beach International Airport (KPBI) was opened in 1936 as Morrison Field, named after Major Morrison who died in a plane crash. During World War II, the airport was used as a military base. In 1948, the airport was renamed Palm Beach International Airport. In the 1960s and 1970s, the airport underwent major renovations and expansions to accommodate increasing passenger traffic. In the 1980s, a new terminal building was constructed and a second runway was added in the 1990s. Today, KPBI serves as a major transportation hub for Palm Beach County, Florida, and is served by several major airlines with domestic and international flights.
In recent years, the airport has seen an increase in passenger traffic, reaching about 7 million passengers in 2019. The airport operates several major airlines, offering non-stop flights to various destinations across the United States, as well as a number of international destinations. With its convenient location and modern facilities, KPBI is a popular choice for both leisure and business travellers, making it an important transportation hub for Palm Beach County.
