PNG Highland Bush Strips Pack 6

Pack 6 starts in the highlands at AYRM Maramuni and heads west to AYPB Paiela. From there we head further west, gradually descending to some of the most scenic rivers in the area. Approach these riverside strips with caution; plan your approach, sometimes following the river till a last-minute turn onto final is the best way to land safely.

PNG is like a Last Frontier of flying; many aspiring pilots fly long and dangerous hours to gain experience. Many have lost their lives in the treacherous conditions. PNG has been described as "The Most Dangerous Place to be a Pilot, a TV series of the same name inspired Ken Hall to start creating these scenery packs. In an attempt to pay tribute to these brave pilots and to demonstrate what can happen when things go wrong, I've created some scenes showing what happens when you encounter the highly dangerous and volatile conditions that these pilots faced on a daily basis, delivering crucial services to the Papuan people. These are my estimations of what could go wrong and do not represent any real-life incident. It is meant as a tribute to the bravery of the Pilots who flew this Aviation Wilderness.

Some features in this Pack include:

• Over 15 models of damaged aircraft added
• 7 models of canoes hand-crafted from images collected in the area.
• 25 more huts added to the model LIB to accommodate the change in geographic location.
• Handcrafted bridges across the rivers adjacent to the runways.
• Several old relics of trucks that may have been used and abandoned.
• Over 200 Polygons were used to correct elevation and vegetation issues, many of them used to correct the rivers on approach to these airstrips.
• More than 200 hand-placed models, all with the latest PBR textures and Level of detail needed for optimum performance.

Recommendations:

Due to the complex nature of creating the correct vegetation types and heights, the Asobo default vegetation biomes have been used; they work the best for this scenery. The use of vegetation add-ons of any sort is not recommended, as they will not show the correct type or height as intended; this can result in trees blocking your approach. Also recommended is to use the Bing imagery; this is the default and, for PNG, is the best and most consistent quality.
