Propair Flight Cheyenne III

Propair Flight is introducing its rendition of the Piper Cheyenne III, which is also the test-bed for our brand-new product - SkyPass - the virtual type rating experience for simulator enthusiasts.

The Piper Cheyenne III is a high-performance, pressurized twin-engine turboprop designed for fast regional and corporate transport. Positioned between lighter business turboprops and entry-level business jets, it combines strong cruise performance, high-altitude capability, a spacious cabin, and the operational flexibility expected from a turbine-powered aircraft.

Powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-41 engines, the Cheyenne III can operate at altitudes up to FL350 and cruise at approximately 290 knots. Its pressurized cabin, substantial fuel capacity, retractable landing gear, reversible propellers, and comprehensive ice-protection systems make it suitable for demanding IFR operations in a wide range of weather conditions.

The aircraft features systems normally associated with larger commercial and business aircraft. These include a multi-bus electrical system, dual starter-generators, pneumatic and environmental control systems, automatic pressurization, autofeather, propeller synchronization, weather radar, flight director, and autopilot. Managing these systems requires structured procedures, careful flight planning, and disciplined cockpit management.

The Cheyenne III is particularly rewarding to operate because of the balance it offers between performance and pilot involvement. Its relatively high speeds require pilots to remain ahead of the aircraft, especially during departures, descents, and instrument approaches. Effective power management, configuration planning, checklist discipline, and a clear understanding of abnormal procedures are essential for safe and efficient operation.

Our virtual type rating program provides a structured introduction to the Cheyenne III, covering aircraft systems, cockpit controls, normal procedures, performance, flight operations, and abnormal situations. The course is designed to help virtual pilots move beyond basic simulator operation and develop the technical knowledge and procedural discipline required to operate the aircraft in a professional and realistic manner.

A typical flight training course contains more than 2 dozen tasks and might take 25-30 flight hours to complete. The flight is monitored and evaluated by a sophisticated flight analytics and AI module, providing the pilots with a detailed debriefing and focusing on areas to improve instead of pure charts and data presentation. The culmination of the training is the final checkride, and in case of successful completion, a Virtual Type Rating for the Propair Flight Cheyenne III.
