Welcome to Gladstone Airport, the latest addition to Orbx’s Australian Airport collection by indie Developer Rob Byrne.
Located on the central Queensland coast, just 100km southeast of Rob’s previous release, Rockhampton Airport, and a convenient one-hour flight north of Brisbane. YGLA Gladstone is home to two of the world's largest alumina refineries, a local Power station, and an extensive rail infrastructure that supports the deepwater harbor.
As you approach the airport, be careful of the busy rail infrastructure below, featuring moving trains that add an extra layer of realism. Upon landing, challenge yourself with inclined taxiways leading to the distinctive double-level parking apron.
Despite being a mid-size regional airport, Gladstone welcomes regular service from QANTAS Dash 8, Embraer E190, and Alliance Airlines F70 flying from Brisbane, along with Bonza 737 flights directly from the Gold Coast and Melbourne.
Rob has added many assets from the Terminal interiors and exteriors featuring realistic volumetric glass; a double-level apron, to locally accurate runway/taxiway lights and taxiway signs. The industrial feel comes alive with a nearby model of the Gladstone Power Station, extensive rail yards on the RWY10 approach, and road bridges with rail underpasses on RYW28.
